The DS/ALT 2014 Conference will take place in the Hotel Golf (4*). The Hotel Golf is situated in a beautiful park full of old trees in the very heart of Bled. Boasting magnificent views of Lake Bled, Bled Castle and the Julian Alps, the hotel has 150 rooms and suites. There is also a modern conference centre with all the necessary equipment for organising successful conferences and business meetings. The hotel offer is complemented by one of Slovenia's best wellness centres and hotel swimming pools that would best be described as pools with a view. We have reserved a number of rooms at reduced rates at the conference hotel, as well as in the neighbouring Trst and Jadran.
How to get to Bled
Airplane: Slovenia's national carrier Adria Airways offers regular schedule flights to most major European cities. Ljubljana is linked to Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich, Brussels, Paris, London, Manchester, Amsterdam, Moscow, Sarajevo, Istanbul, and others.
Airport Joze Pucnik Ljubljana is 36 km away. Regular daily services mostly provided by the Slovenian national carrier Adria Airways operate between Ljubljana Airport and all major European hubs. In addition there are some cheap flights available from London and Brussels.
Bus: It is also possible to reach Slovenia from neighbouring countries by bus. International bus transport is well organized and relatively inexpensive. The timetables and other information can be found at the web address of local bus transport agency.
Car: You can get to know a country best if you visit it by car. You can reach Slovenia via one of the border crossings with Italy, Austria, Hungary or Croatia, or you can rent a car in one of our car rental agencies. Slovenia�s highways are good and clearly signposted; beside the roads you will find rest stops, inns with overnight accommodation, and motels.
Train: Lesce � Bled railway station, which is on the route between Munich, Salzburg, Villach, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Athens and Istanbul, is just 4 km from Bled.
Entering Slovenia
Border formalities are none since Slovenia is a part of Schengen Area and correspond to the European standards. Citizens of member countries of the European Union, Croatia, and Switzerland can cross the border with a valid personal identification document, but the visit cannot be longer than thirty days. All those who need visas to visit Slovenia can obtain them from Slovenia�s representative offices in their home countries. Please find all the latest information on the procedure and conditions for obtaining a visa to enter Slovenia at the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Invitation Letters (Letters of guarantee): We can only issue invitation letters when a delegate is duly registered to DS/ALT 2014 i.e. a registration form has been made, and the related registration fees have been fully paid and received by our accounting office.
Location
The host town Bled lies in the north-west part of Slovenia, at the foot of the Julian Alps. This thousand-year-old municipality is one of Slovenia�s premiere tourist resorts and is well-known for its mild sub-Alpine climate, fresh air and thermal spa waters. The emerald-green glacial Lake Bled with a small island lying in its middle is best seen from the iconic castle perched high up on a rock overlooking the lake.

Facts about Bled
With immense natural beauty, Bled, together with its surroundings, ranks among the most beautiful alpine resorts, renowned for its mild, healing climate and thermal lake water. Points of interest
- Bled Castle, built on a steep rock cliff nearly 100m high, is a silent witness to the former power of Bled. It is still the centre of tourism in Bled.
- Lake Bled was formed after the recession of the Bohinj glacier. It is up to 2120 m long and up to 1380 m wide, its maximum depth being 30,6 m and tectonic in origin.
- Bled Island with its idyllic Baroque Church, belfry, chapel, and presbytery with its grand staircase and famous "Bell of wishes" dating from 1535, it is a remarkable monument.
- The Vintgar gorge the Radovna, a small mountain river, forms a wonderful gorge, 3 km long and in places only few meters wide. The beautiful wooden path is mainly attached directly to the rocks of the canyon.
- The pilots from the airfield of Lesce-Bled can take you by their "Cessna" planes on an unforgettable panoramic flight above Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj, Mt.Triglav, 2864m. You can also choose another scenic destination in the country, like the Adriatic coast.
- Of course do not miss the famous cream cakes, known to Bled for decades, which are in fact a symbol of Bled. Although you can buy them elsewhere, those from Bled are simply the best.

All participants will be kindly asked to register through the on-line system for registration and hotel booking. There will be a shuttle service organised to and from Ljubljana Airport. You will be able to book the shuttle together with your hotel booking.
